Dean C. Logan

Dean Logan was appointed Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk for Los Angeles County, California on July 9, 2008, previously serving as the Acting Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk and as Chief Deputy.

The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk is responsible for registering voters, maintaining voter files, administering federal, state, local and special elections and verifying initiatives, referenda and recall petitions. Los Angeles County, with more than 500 political districts and 4.3 million registered voters, is the largest and most complex county election jurisdiction in the country. The Department conducts state primary and general elections and approximately 200 city, school and special district elections each year.

Mr. Logan has over 20 years experience in public service in state and local government. Prior to moving to Southern California, Mr. Logan served as the Director of Records, Elections and Licensing Services for King County, Washington; as State Elections Director for the Washington Secretary of State; and as the elected County Clerk and Chief Deputy County Auditor in Kitsap County, Washington.

Mr. Logan serves on the Board of Directors for the California Association of Clerks and Election Officials ( CACEO ) and is a member of the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks ( NACRC ), the National Election Center and the American Council of Young Political Leaders ( ACYPL ) Alumni Council. He also serves on the California Secretary of State’s VoteCal Statewide Voter Registration System Advisory Committee, The Election Center’s National Task Forces on Education & Training and Election Reform and on Pew’s Voter Registration Modernization Design Working Group.

In 1999, Mr. Logan was recognized by Sprint USA and the National Association of Community Leadership with its Distinguished Leadership Award. In 2007, he served as an International Election Observer in Morocco with the National Democratic Institute. He has traveled to China on a political leadership exchange and to the former Soviet Union as part of a citizen diplomacy delegation.

Mr. Logan holds professional certifications as an Elections and Registration Administrator and as a Professional County Official.
